The document of authenticity and evaluation of the card
GRAAD's certificate is tangible proof of the authenticity of a card.
When entering your online order on our website, you will be able to choose wheather you want your card encapsulated with a certificate in English or in Italian.
The paper certificate, sealed inside the case with the card, allows the collector to have immediate access to all the practical information just by looking at the graaded card. The online digital version, which can be consulted through the verification code or by scanning the QR code, contains all the information on the certification.
GRAAD rejects fake cards. A fake card cannot be enclosed in an official GRAAD case. If a card has been encapsulated with its paper certificate it means that it is certainly authentic. If you have any doubts, you can also check the anti-falsification holographic sticker in the back of the certificate to further ensure the authenticity of the card. If you want to be completely sure, you can also proceed with an online verification via the unique numeric code or by scanning the QR code in the back.
Let's take a look at the front of our Standard certificate.
the color indicates the type of Service: green for Authentication and Standard, blue for Digital.
it indicates the Service Level:
A for Authentication, S for Standard and D for Digital.
in the hexagon you will find a number from 1 to 10 (that expresses the overall quality of the card) or an acronym (A, AA, AS) for authentic, non-graded cards. You can find more information below.
the name of the card game to which the card belongs
the name of the set from which the card comes from
the fullname of the card and any details (rarity, etc)
the card number in the set of origin
the numerical grade is here accompanied by the acronym indicating the overall quality of the card
the unique identification code that certifies authenticity and that can be used for online verification
Here you will find special codes like codes related to signatures, particularities, print errors, etc.
The overall qualitative evaluation of the card is described with numbers from 1 to 10. The higher the grade, the better the overall quality of the card. This evaluation is also shown in the down-center of the certificate, with a PSA equivalent acronym.
If you want to better understand the our grading scale, you can
If you find the acronym "AA" (Altered-Authentic) at the center of the hexagon and the card is regularly encapsulated, it means that you are looking at an authentic card that has undergone some alterations. When we receive altered cards, we do not proceed with a qualitative evaluation (grading) but we only certify the authenticity of the item.
If you find the acronym "A" (Authentic) at the center of the hexagon and the card is regularly encapsulated, it means that you are looking at an authentic card whose owner has not requested a qualitative evaluation. In this cases, GRAAD certifies only the authenticity of the card.
If you find the acronym "AS" (Authentic Signature) at the center of the hexagon and the card is regularly encapsulated, it means that you are looking at an authentic card with a genuine signature whose owner has not requested a qualitative evaluation. GRAAD, in this case, certifies both the authenticity of the card and the authenticity of signature. The certificate will also show the SGNT acronym as a special code plus the name of the author of the signature.
In some cases GRAAD will print a code on the bottom right of the certificate right under the card number. This code will indicate the presence of special conditions for that specific cards, just like it happens for signed cards with authentic signatures, cards with printing errors, etc.
If you want to know all the existing codes and want to find out how GRAAD will manage these special cases you can read the "Special Codes" section of the "Certificable Cards" page.
Our Digital certificate has the same structure as our Standard one, with the sole exception of the
Bonus Graad evaluation, a qualitative evaluation with a value from 0 to 10 indicating the quality at the digital inspection level
Digital grading also includes, in addition to the Standard grade from 1 to 10, a further quality bonus (GRAAD bonus from +0 to +10) which can affect the final added value of the card, especially it is a card graded between 8 and 10. The bonus is based on the analysis of characteristics not visible to an optical analysis such as the level of cleanliness visible with a luminescent lamp or as the chromatic parameters, the print sharpness, or traces of wear detectable only through the analysis of a very high resolution scan. For more informations you can take a look at the page dedicated to the grading process.
